To: Trades Unions, Labour Organisations and progressive Political Parties and Organisations

Dear comrades,

The Islamic Republic of Iran has recently called on the services of INTERPOL to hunt down its political opponents. The details of 12 members and supporters of our Party has been submitted to the INTERPOL to have them arrested. These comrades are well known and well respected communist and labour activists, all veterans of over three decades of political activities.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is the embodiment of brutality of capitalism of our era. A regime that has resorted to every means at its disposal to contain the working class in Iran and maintain the profitability of capital. The workers in Iran have been denied the right to organise their own independent trade organisations. Attempts to organise themselves and initiate  collective actions have been met with  naked aggression, arrests, imprisonment and murder. Mansoor Ossanloo, the leader of Tehran Bus Drivers Company is in jail serving long term imprisonment for representing his fellow workers. While in jail Mr Ossanloo has been accused of fabricated charges of possessing weapon and US dollars.

Faced with crippling economic and political crises the Islamic Republic has embarked on a new wave of  oppression inside Iran and is trying to restrict and harm the activities of its radical opponent outside the country. To this end it has called on the INTERPOL to assist it in hunting down our members.

This is indeed a worrying development for labour and communist activists. The capitalists and their apparatus seem to overlook any disagreement and contention that they may have when it comes to dealing with workers and labour activists. The INTERPOL has readily co-operated with the Islamic Republic and has issued the details of our comrades and posted them on their website under their list of “WANTED” people accusing them of terror and organised crime.

Needless to say that in the face of this capitalist assault against worker activists; and in the face of  an international conspiracy against workers, we can only rely on your support to counter this unholy alliance between the Islamic Republic and the INTERPOL. We are campaigning to have the names of our comrades removed from the INTERPOL’s list of WANTED people. To this end we would be grateful if you could raise this issue within your organisation and take whatever action that you deem appropriate. We would like you to write to the INTERPOL and express your disapproval of their action and demand the removal of our comrade’s names from their list of WANTED people. We would also be grateful if you could copy us into any correspondence with the INTERPOL and inform us of your activities in this regards,

Respectfully Yours
